We're looking for a Strategic Insights Lead to take our data-driven decision making to the next level.
At Bardee, our ambition is to reshape the global food system. To do this, we breed billions of insects đ to transform food waste đ„ into insect protein for animal feed đ¶Â and fertiliser đČ in our world-leading vertical farming system ~ learn more about what we do here.
In 2022, we aim to divert 20,000 tonnes of food waste from landfill, and 10x our production volumes of insect protein and fertiliser going into sustainable animal feed and fertiliser products.
Bardee is now looking for a Strategic Insights Lead to take our data-driven decision making to the next level.
Here at Bardee, we are passionate about looking at facts and data to help us make decisions on how we win – for example, which projects we resource and why, which customers we serve, how we mould our business model to deliver the most impact, and how we resource new growth trajectories. Youâll work closely with the CEO and Head of Operations to define our strategy, build analysis and research to support it, build our seasonal plans, and resource our longer-term projects through fundraising and business development efforts. As part of this outcome, youâll own projects like:

In just 3 years since it started, Bardee has grown from a tent-sized experiment to Australiaâs biggest producer of Black Soldier Fly Larvae-based protein and fertiliser products, commanding a facility able to process 10 tonnes of food waste daily and with plans for more. We now work with and supply some of Australiaâs largest waste, logistics, pet food and grocery businesses and have no signs of slowing down.
On top of growing with the business, this is a perfect opportunity for someone with 2-4 yearsâ work experience to transition to a senior leadership role in a startup. Youâll report to the Head of Operations and have direct exposure to the CEO, CTO, and Head of Commercial.

Weâre a small startup. Weâre a small team that just scaled to 20+ FTE. Weâve never done this before and will be making lots of mistakes along the way.
We wonât handhold you. Youâll be accountable to deliver your goals safely and efficiently.Â
We are comfortable with change. Things move quickly at Bardee, so you can expect to find things out last minute. Weâll be coming up with things on the fly, and not everything will work out.
Sometimes sustainability smells. We work with food waste so youâll want to take a shower when you get home.
Weekend operations. Our insects are too busy growing and donât know when itâs the weekend, so some operations extend into Saturday.
Weâre all-in. Sometimes things go wrong and we have a culture where everyone, no matter their job description, everyone jumps in to help out.
